For the first time this season, the New England Revolution were without Teal Bunbury, but don’t expect the forward to be sidelined for long.

Bunbury missed last Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Union due to a “slight irritation in his knee” that gave him “a little bit of pain in his hamstring.”

The omission was largely precautionary, however, as the team is hopeful that he’ll be back soon.

“Teal should be fine,” head coach Brad Friedel told media. “Fingers crossed we should see him on the training ground soon and as I said during the pre-match in Philadelphia, we hope to have him this weekend.”

The Revs will need Bunbury if they want to make a late push for the playoffs. The 28-year-old has had a renaissance this year, contributing 11 goals and three assists in 24 appearances.

If he’s ready to start against the Portland Timbers, it’s likely that he’ll play up top with Diego Fagundez moving back into the midfield.
