The Revs may be scuffling at the moment, but some local youth players are out there collecting hardware.
Led by striker Ally Sentnor of Hanson, Mass, and defender Lilly Reale of Hingham, Mass, the US U-15 girls national team followed up a recent CONCACAF championship with a trophy at the CFA International Tournament in China.
The squad won all three matches to secure the crown going away. An opening, come-from-behind, 3-2 victory over Japan was followed by a 5-0 romp over host China. They put an exclamation point on their performance with a 3-0 defeat of the Czech Republic.
Sentnor, the youngest player on the team, was named the tournament's MVP. Both she and Reale -- each of whom tallied a goal -- ply their trade with the all-girls South Shore Select soccer club based in Hingham. The club is owned and operated by Liz Lima, who played college soccer at Harvard.
Sentnor and Reale were the only two New Englanders on the team. Way to go, ladies!
