On Wednesday, New England Revolution owner/investor Jonathan Kraft did an interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub. Here’s a summary of the discussion (Disclaimer: All notes were taken live):

  • A Metallica song played as the hosts introduced Kraft. Kraft confessed that he enjoys the band, which led to some music talk. Kraft obliged but also explained that he was there to talk about the Revs.
  • Kraft complimented the way the Revs have played this season, saying that “we’ve always been an over-achieving, hard-working club” and that Brad Friedel has “brought the level of soccer that we’re playing to another level.”
  • Kraft praised a lot of players, including Diego Fagundez, Matt Turner, Cristian Penilla, and Luis Caicedo.
  • Kraft said, “Soccer has arrived in this country.” He went on to say nice things about Atlanta, LAFC, and Portland. He mentioned that it’s important that the Revs build a stadium in an urban area.
  • Kraft said, “We sound like a broken record, but we have been working very diligently (on getting an urban stadium).” He explained that the club will share information when they have substantial news.
  • Kraft praised Mayor Walsh for supporting their search for a permanent home for the Revs. He said they hope they can get it done in Walsh’s second term. Kraft said, “Mayor Walsh, I think, really wants (a soccer stadium).”
  • Kraft said, “We will get the stadium done.”
  • Kraft said they are weeks away from breaking ground on the brand new training facility in Foxboro.
  • Kraft said they are working on making some signings during this transfer window. He said that Friedel’s connections have been a huge asset in finding players.
  • The hosts tried to sneak in some Patriots talk to end the interview and Kraft had a great response.
