The Lee Nguyen Saga has come to a close.

In a deadline day trade, the New England Revolution sent their former captain to LAFC for at least $350,000 in General Allocation Money and $350,000 in Targeted Allocation Money. Conditions of the deal make it possible that more resources could find their way to New England.

The drama played out slowly. When his request to be traded was denied, Nguyen wasn’t present at the first day of training. The star midfielder eventually rejoined the team but failed to make a single bench appearance. It seemed all but certain that Nguyen had played his last game in a Revolution uniform.

Fans were curious about the happenings, often trying to predict what would happen next. Speculation ended late Tuesday night when it was decided that Nguyen would be heading to the west coast.

Nguyen offered a heartfelt goodbye as he left the Revolution, the team that gave him a chance in 2012. Take a look.
