Antonio Delamea is exhausted, and it’s only partially because it’s the beginning of preseason.

The Bent Musket spoke to Delamea after the Revolution’s first preseason practice of 2018. The center back said the session was “the hardest first day of all the first days I’ve went through in my career.” New head of fitness Anton McElhone worked the players hard in preparation for the new season.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Anton,” Delamea said. “He came from Tottenham, so we know he was working with some great players there. He’s very experienced. I just hope he can help us grow as players.“

Delamea has another reason to be tired as he became a father in the off season. The lack of sleep is a fair trade-off for the joy that his daughter brings him.

“I’m very exhausted,” Delamea said. “On the other side, it’s great. It’s finally great to have a daughter, to have one more family member, someone I can take care of. I’m very proud of my daughter.“
