After missing two consecutive matches due to injury, Lee Nguyen showed up in a big way Saturday night. The crafty midfielder turned in one the best performances of his career against Orlando City SC, earning an assist or a secondary assist on all four Revolution goals during a 4-0 rout.
As it turns out, that’s an MLS record.

Nguyen got started in the 26th minute when he used space to swing a pass out wide to Scott Caldwell. Spotting a Kei Kamara run at goal, Caldwell promptly sent a cross into the box, and Kamara finished.
One assist for Nguyen.
In the 75th minute, with his team in need of a match-clinching goal, Nguyen took a driving touch into the box that fed Kamara in front of Orlando keeper Joe Bendik. Kamara finished again.
Two assists for Nguyen.
Just before stoppage time, Nguyen received a pass from Xavier Kouassi and played a through ball to Kamara, who galloped into the 18 and beat an onrushing Bendik.
Three assists for Nguyen.
Three minutes later, Nguyen cruised past Dillon Powers with a clever dribble sequence and played Krisztian Nemeth, on the field for his season debut, with space down the left side. Nemeth played Teal Bunbury with a cross, and Bunbury pounded a shot into the back of the net.
Four assists for Nguyen.
Though he isn’t the only player to accomplish the feat—he ties Carlos Valderrama, Landon Donovan and others—Nguyen lands in the record books after an unforgettable performance.
