Delamea, Watson to miss time while on international duty

The two defenders are headed abroad.

On the heels of a two-match losing streak, the Revolution will enter Saturday’s match against Orlando City SC without defenders Antonio Delamea and Je-Vaughn Watson.

Delamea will head to Europe for two World Cup Qualifiers: Friday on the road against Slovakia, and Monday, Sept. 4 at home against Lithuania. The Revolution center back has earned two career caps with Slovenia. He played 90 minutes during a World Cup Qualifier against Malta on June 10, helping his country to a 2-0 win.

Watson will head to Toronto for Saturday’s friendly between Jamaica and Canada. The veteran of 70 caps has become a fixture for the Reggae Boyz in recent years. This summer, he anchored the team’s midfield during its run to the Gold Cup final, scoring Jamaica’s lone goal in an eventual 2-1 loss to the United States.

In the absence of Delamea and Watson, Jay Heaps will likely slot Benjamin Angoua in the center back position and either London Woodberry or Chris Tierney into the left back spot.

The Revs and Lions will kick off from Gillette Stadium at 7:00 p.m. ET.
