There’s no greater sign of admiration then when a fan base sings a player-specific song. With this in mind, it’s pretty special that goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth has two chants created by separate supporters’ groups.
The New York native spent eight seasons with the New England Revolution, which included four as a starter. Following club legend Matt Reis was a daunting task but many fans warmed to Shuttleworth, even putting his name into a catchy tune.
Shuttleworth was traded to Minnesota United FC before the 2017 season. Originally third on the depth chart, the netminder soon grabbed the top spot.
Shuttleworth has since become a fan-favorite, especially after he suffered a broken nose while playing against Sporting KC. After clashing with Dom Dwyer, Shuttleworth received treatment before returning between the sticks. His side would ultimately win 2-0. Shuttleworth now wears a mask as he waits for his nose to fully heal.
For his courage at the back, Shuttleworth has been given his own chant, which sounds a lot like “Iron Man.”
