New England Revolution defender Antonio Delamea has been called up to the Slovenia National Team, according to several news outlets.
Delamea made debut with the Slovenia National Team on November 11, 2016, coming on as a halftime sub in a friendly at Poland. That has been his lone cap to date, though he could add a second when Slovenia plays Malta on June 10.
The call-up, if true, is certainly well-earned. Delamea has been sensational for the Revs since being transferred from Olimpija Ljubljana in January 2016. The defender has played every minute so far, serving as an influential presence along the back line. He has helped his team to three clean sheets and recorded an important assist against D.C. United. His contributions have earned league-wide recognition, as he was named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week on two occasions.
It’s worth noting that the Revs don’t have a game on June 10.
