Tonight, the Revolution will enter Red Bull Arena in search of its first road win in seven attempts. Standing in the way will be Sacha Kljestan and the Red Bulls, who have yet to lose at home in 2017.
Yet when the Revs hit the field tonight, the club will benefit from the support of 1,000 fans who made the trip from Foxboro to Harrison, N.J. These supporters will try to make the match feel a bit less like a road outing.
“It's a tremendous boost,” Revs midfielder Lee Nguyen said of the road support. “We love it when our fans are able to travel to our away games ... It feels like there's an extra boost out there, like a 12th man.”
According to Nguyen, the Revs may need this boost.
"It's a tough environment,” he continued. “We know that they're going to be coming out high intensity, high pressure, so we're going to have to be able to withstand that for the first half of the game.”
The Revs hung tough during its last trip to Red Bull Arena but, in the end, failed to earn the late equalizer it needed. The Red Bulls ultimately claimed a 1-0 win.
The Revolution will look to flip the script tonight, winning in New Jersey for the first time since the first leg of the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals.
