Columbus Crew SC had no answer for Diego Fagundez on Sunday, as the midfielder scored both Revolution goals in a 2-1 win. Following his performance, mlssoccer.com gave Diego a Team of the Week nod for the second time in as many weeks.
Now in his seventh professional season, Fagundez has blossomed into one of the more dangerous attackers in MLS. He’s creative over the ball, quick moving down the sideline and, as he’s shown in recent weeks, strong on the finish. Diego’s 2017 stat line—four assists and three goals in 12 appearances—only tells a fraction of the story, as several of his hardest-fought shifts have contributed nothing to the score sheet.
In week 12, Fagundez joins Gerso (Sporting Kansas City), Miguel Almiron (Atlanta United), Ignacio Piatti (Montreal Impact) and Haris Medunjanin (Philadelphia Union) in the Team of the Week midfield. Medunjanin, like Fagundez, also earned recognition in week 11.
