After ending a five-match winless streak against Real Salt Lake last week, the Revolution host Crew SC in a matchup of two teams on opposite sides of the red line.
The Revs (13 points, 9th place) have gone winless in six road matches. Thankfully, the club has played far better soccer at home, going undefeated in five outings this season. The Revolution have outscored its opponents 13-4 in those matches, picking up three shutouts along the way.
“If you don’t concede goals, you’re never going to lose. And our goal is to go undefeated at home,” defender Chris Tierney said this week. “We go into every home game expecting to keep a clean sheet, that’s always the goal.”
Currently in the middle of brutal road stretch, Crew SC (19 points, 4th place) will play four of its next five matches away from MAPFRE Stadium after beating the Impact in Montreal last weekend. Still, none of that phases Crew gaffer Gregg Berhalter.
“We still have similar objectives at home and away—we want to win games,” Berhalter said.
His club made good on that objective two weeks ago, when goals from Ola Kamara and Federico Higuain downed the Revs in a one-sided match. Can Jay Heaps’ side get revenge at home? Tune into the action at 2:30 p.m. ET.
