The New England Revolution’s good run of form continued on Saturday afternoon when they bested the Houston Dynamo 2-0. Here’s a quick recap of everything you missed from the game.
Moment of the Match
The first half came and went without much to talk about but things changed after the break as the Revs pushed to break the deadlock. The critical moment came in the 52nd minute.
The goal wasn’t a pretty one—especially since it took Kei Kamara two tries to get a shot past Tyler Deric—but it did open up the game. Shots became more frequent, which made up for the quiet first half.
Quote of the Match
I don’t think [Xavier Kouassi] took a wrong step out there. I thought he was excellent defensively, breaking up plays. And it’s just a roll up your sleeves type attitude from him. He gets in on tackles, excellent with the ball. Thrilled with the three of them and how they dealt with the center of the park.”-Head coach Jay Heaps
Kouassi has now played 90 minutes in two straight games, which is a storyline that hasn’t received a lot of attention. The midfielder has lived up to the hype as he closes down passing lanes, makes hard tackles, and keeps the ball moving. It’s still early but Kouassi looks like the real deal.

Approximately 10 minutes after Kamara found the back of the net, Erick Torres had a chance of his own. The striker, who leads the league with six goals, pushed towards Cody Cropper, but the young netminder stood his ground. Cropper made a second stop moments later, this time denying Ricardo Clark.
Cropper has come in and taken ownership of the goalkeeping position. The Revs earned their first shutout of the season on Saturday and Cropper is a big reason why.
