UPDATED to reflect Dowd’s status as a discovery player.
The day has come for all NWSL teams to reveal their final rosters of 20 players. The Boston Breakers have been mostly set so there won’t be any surprises for fans who have been following the team through preseason, especially now with the final announcement of the signing of forward Ifeoma Onumonu. The full roster of 20* is below:
GOALKEEPERS (3): Sammy Jo Prudhomme (GKR), Abby Smith, Libby Stout
DEFENDERS (7): Allysha Chapman (FED-CAN), Brooke Elby, Amanda Frisbie, Julie King, Megan Oyster, Kylie Strom, Christen Westphal
MIDFIELDERS (6): Rose Lavelle (FED-USA), Morgan Andrews, Amanda Da Costa, Angela Salem, Tiffany Weimer, Rosie White (INTL-NZL)
FORWARDS (5): Natasha Dowie (INTL-ENG), Emilie Haavi (INTL-NOR), Adriana Leon (INTL-CAN), Ifeoma Onumonu, Margaret Purce
The only draft pick not to get signed so far is Hayley Dowd, who may end up with the Breakers Reserves, though her rights are now up for grabs as a discovery player since she was not signed by a team in the scheduled window.
The Breakers have three federation players this year, players whose federations are paying their salaries: Rose Lavelle (USA), Allysha Chapman (CAN), and Adriana Leon (CAN).
*If you’re counting 21 players above, that’s because Sammy Jo Prudhomme is listed as a “Goalkeeper Reserve,” as she was signed to help fill in for the injured Libby Stout. NWSL rules require all teams to carry two goalkeepers. Stout is out four to six weeks with an ankle injury and should eventually return to the roster.
The Breakers’ first game is on Sunday, April 6 at 6 PM ET against FC Kansas City. They will return to Jordan Field for their home opener on Sunday, April 23 at 4 PM ET.
