Major League Soccer has announced the full 2017 Regular Season schedule for all 22 teams including the New England Revolution. You can view the full MLS schedule here as well as the Revs release here.
We knew several weeks ago that the Revs season opener would be at the Colorado Rapids on March 4th and the home opener would be the following week, March 11th against Orlando City.
The full release details the Revolution’s matches against the Western Conference. Minnesota United, Houston Dynamo, San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake and the Vancouver Whitecaps will all visit Gillette Stadium in 2017. On the counter side, the Revs will visit the Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City this season.
The Revolution will play a total of two national TV matches in 2017: a Sunday night game at Portland Timbers on April 2nd as well as a Sunday, July 2nd match against the Philadelphia Union. The Revs’ only Friday game at Toronto FC on June 23rd does not list UniMas as a TV provider for the game at the time of publishing.
Here’s where the problems start to mount. Last year the only home game against the New York Red Bulls was slated for a Friday night UniMas broadcast. This year’s only Red Bulls game at Gillette is a midweek match, Wednesday night on July 5th. New England has four other midweek matches this year: April 19th vs SJ, May 31st at NYCFC, September 13th at Atlanta and September 27th at Orlando City.
New England will play the Chicago Fire, Toronto FC and NYCFC three times each in the regular season with two matches against the rest of the Eastern Conference and one match each against the West as detailed above. There will be a break during the 2017 Gold Cup which centers around the weekend of July 14th.
