When the 2017 SuperDraft begins at 3 p.m. today, 237 amateur soccer players—all of whom have been deemed draft eligible—will wait for a chance to don an MLS scarf. Only 88 of those players will hear their name called. And even fewer will suit up for an MLS club.
One of these players is expected to join expansion-side Minnesota United as the first overall pick, though recent rumors suggest the club could move the selection elsewhere. Atlanta United and the Chicago Fire, respective holders of the second and third pick, have also expressed interested in swapping spots.
The New England Revolution are set to make two picks on the first day of the SuperDraft, as the team currently holds the 20th and 31st overall selections. The Revs have not hinted at who they may select, though the club—which desperately needs both quality and depth along the back line—will likely select at least one defender.
Watch every pick here when the action kicks off at 3 p.m. ET.
