The New England Revolution have a chance to advance to the U.S. Cup Final for the first time since they won the tournament in 2007. In order to do so, they must defeat long-time rival the Chicago Fire.
Tuesday marks the 74th overall meeting between the Revs and Fire. The two clubs have met in the playoffs several times, with the Fire advancing in 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2009 while the Revs proved to be the better side in 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2007.
The Revs and Fire have only met in the U.S. Open Cup twice, with the Fire winning on both occasions. If the Revolution are to buck this trend, they will need big performances from Kei Kamara, Kelyn Rowe, and Teal Bunbury. They will also need to track David Accam, who has already grabbed four goals and one assist in this tournament.
