Friday was a big day at Gillette Stadium as the New England Revolution welcomed two new faces, Kei Kamara and Xavier Kouassi.
Kamara was traded to the Revs in a deadline day deal with Columbus Crew SC. The forward, who occupies a Designated Player slot, could play against the Chicago Fire on Saturday.
Kouassi, also a Designated Player, will need to wait to make his debut, as the midfielder is still rehabbing a right knee injury, which occurred in the second half of FC Sion’s 1-0 win over FC Zurich in the Swiss Super League on February 7. Initial reports estimated that Kouassi would miss at least six months.
With the Swiss Super League now over, Kouassi has moved stateside. The 26-year-old was seen greeting his new teammates on Friday in a video on RevolutionSoccer.net that also shows Kamara making his way around the locker room.
As the video highlights, Kouassi will wear the number 12, which was last worn by Andy Dorman. Dorman is now with PDL-side FC Bolts.
