New England Revolution players can breathe a sigh of relief as Kaka won't play in this weekend's rematch.
The Brazilian midfielder didn't travel with Orlando City as he's still burdened by a groin injury. Kaka also missed last Sunday's 3-2 loss to the New York Red Bulls. The 34-year-old, who also was plagued by injury to start the season, has contributed two goals and two assists in three appearances.
The decision to leave Kaka behind was motivated by caution more than anything else.
"We don’t want to push him and risk him being out for four or five weeks," explained Orlando head coach Adrian Heath. "He will be a big part for us this year and we don’t want him playing at the moment if he is not 100 percent."
Although Kaka will be disappointed to be away from his teammates, he's already had a pretty busy weekend. That's because the Brazilian attended opening night of the Beauty and the Best at the Dr. Phillips Center in downtown Orlando.
