New year, new tifo.
New England Revolution supporters revealed their latest artwork on Saturday afternoon. The tifo, raised just before kickoff, was inspired by Stars Wars and read "The Fort Awakens." It was created by the Midnight Riders.
The tifo is timely as Star Wars was released on December 18, 2015. The highly anticipated film drew rave reviews, grossing $929.5 million in North America and $1.124 billion in other territories for a worldwide total of $2.053 billion.
Tifos have become a regular occurrence in Foxborough with several being related to movies. In the past, supporters have modeled their designs after The Lion King, Jaws, and Indiana Jones.
Charlie Davies praised the efforts of Revolution fans, saying that their dedication helps motivate the players on the field. Davies is New Hampshire native, who signed with his hometown team in 2014.
