Defensive help has arrived as Sporting CP loanee Sambinha has officially linked up with the New England Revolution.
The Revs are currently en route to Tucson, AZ ahead of the Desert Diamond Cup. Part of their travel arrangements included a short layover in Dallas, TX, which is where they met Sambinha.

Many have already noted that Sambinha has impressive size. The Revolution's official website lists him at 6'1, which makes him one of the tallest players on the roster.
Sambinha is on a year-long loan, which does include an option to buy. The 23-year-old center back has made 72 appearances in Portugal's Segunda Liga since the 2013-14 season. He played with Sporting B during the 2015-16 season, serving as their captain.
Sambinha is expected to compete with incumbent starting center backs Jose Goncalves and Andrew Farrell. Darrius Barnes and London Woodberry are also capable of playing in the middle.
