Minnesota United Stuns Revolution, Selects Femi Hollinger-Janzen in Expansion Draft

The second-year forward is headed west to Minnesota.

For a moment, it looked like the Revolution had escaped the MLS Expansion Draft unscathed. And then, with the 10th and final pick of the draft, Minnesota United snatched forward Femi Hollinger-Janzen.

The move marks the second time in as many drafts that an expansion club has selected a second-year Revolution forward. In 2014, NYCFC drafted Patrick Mullins with its second selection. Mullins went on to score 14 goals across two seasons with NYCFC and D.C. United. Though it remains to be seen if Femi will evolve into a Mullins-like contributor, his potential makes this a disappointing loss for the Revolution.

Femi will join Red Bulls defender Chris Duvall, Houston midfielder Collen Warner, Columbus midfielder Mohammed Saeid and Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Jeff Attinella on the first-year Minnesota squad.
