Revs Academy Product Set for MLS Combine

New England Revolution Academy product Mitch Taintor is set to participate in the MLS Player Combine, which will take place in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. from Jan. 7-12.

Taintor spent four years at Rutgers University and earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors as a senior. In 71 appearances, Taintor offered 13 goals and six assists. The Storrs, Ct. native is capable of playing along the back line as well as in the midfield.

Taintor is eligible to be a Homegrown signing for the Revolution, but hasn't received a contract offer. A similar situation arose last year with Fabio Machado (Providence), who went undrafted. Machado did trial with the Revolution's USL affiliate the Rochester Rhinos, but he ultimately didn't make the team.

With no Homegrown contract in place, Taintor will hope to impress at the Combine. Taintor has been placed on Team X, who will first play Team Ace at 2 pm on Friday, Jan. 8. His next two games will be against Team Control (12 pm on Jan. 10) and Team Chaos (11:45 am on Jan. 12). The MLS SuperDraft will be held on Jan. 14 in Baltimore, Md.
