The New England Revolution scored three beautifully orchestrated goals in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Orlando City, and one in particular has garnered plaudits on a grander stage.
Diego Fagundez's 43rd minute strike is up for MLSsoccer.com's Goal of the Week and is in prime position to take home the honor. Tallies from FC Dallas' Michael Barrios, Didier Drogba of the Montreal Impact, Obafemi Martins of the Seattle Sounders, and Conor Casey of the Philadelphia Union are also up for the weekly award.
However, Fagundez's strike constitutes an extraordinary piece of build-up play, all of which was capped off with a pristinely volleyed finish.
On the play, Chris Tierney pings a perfectly weighted long ball onto the chest of Charlie Davies, who lays off a chested pass into the path of Lee Nguyen. Wasting no time, Nguyen chips the ball over the top into the path of a sprinting Fagundez, who finishes with aplomb past a helpless Tally Hall.
Now, the rest is up to you, Revolution fans. Go vote for Fagundez!
