The New England Revolution were sterling across the board in their 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, but there was one player who stood out from the rest.
Center-back Andrew Farrell, who was a major reason why the Union recorded two shots on target, has been named to MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week for his efforts.
Most notably, along with his partner, Jose Goncalves, Farrell limited the danger that Cristian Maidana, CJ Sapong, Tranquillo Barnetta, and Sebastien Le Toux posed. Desperate for three points that would keep their dwindling playoff hopes alive, none of the aforementioned quartet considerably threatened Bobby Shuttleworth's goal.
Moreover, the recognition speaks volumes to Farrell's growth in the center of the park. He began his Revs career as a right-back, and admittedly encountered some growing pains when transitioning to the center of the park.
Nonetheless, Farrell is truly blossoming before our eyes and is consistently putting performances worthy of praise.
