In 60th minute of Saturday's game between the New England Revolution and Toronto FC, Joe Bendik came rushing off his line to confront Charlie Davies. The netminder mistimed his tackle, sending Davies to the ground in a heap. It was a rough challenge that clearly warranted the yellow that referee Chris Penso produced.
After taking a moment to collect himself, Davies got up and readied for the impending free kick. MLS All Star Chris Tierney provided the service and Davies produced the goal.
It was the second tally of the night for the New Hampshire native, who was replaced by Juan Agudelo in the 71st minute. It was also the Revs' third goal, putting the game firmly out of reach for the visitors.
More than anything, the goal was a reminder that if you hit Charlie Davies, he will score on you.
And just because the goal is so nice, here's another angle.
GO ON, @CharlieDavies9! https://t.co/1uvLsSkxaj
