The summer transfer window has been relatively quiet for the New England Revolution, with rumors and speculation resulting in nothing concrete or definite.
With that in mind, Jeff Lemieux, staff writer and online host for the Revs, recently spoke with GM Mike Burns to provide some insight into possible wheelings and dealings. While nothing earth shattering resulted from those conversations, it is important to note that the Revs are not resting on their laurels.
Burns said #NERevs close w/ both DPs and non-DPs in recent weeks, "but they haven't come to fruition." "Nothing definitive at this point."

Burns: #NERevs are "actively trying to get something done." Focused on adding reinforcements on the backline and at forward.

Who exactly those reinforcements are remains unclear, but the front office is aware depth is needed in defense. As for up front, the Revs currently have a plethora of attacking options in Charlie Davies, Juan Agudelo, Teal Bunbury, Diego Fagundez, Kelyn Rowe, and others. Some depth could be used there, but it is not as pressing as in defense.
Outside of acquisitions, Burns also discussed with Lemieux the status of the partnership with Sporting Clube de Portugal. When announced in October of 2014, there was tangible excitement over what the relationship could become. However, it has resulted in practically nothing for both partners, with hopes to strengthen the partnership in the future still vibrant.
Also asked Burns about Sporting CP partnership. Said #NERevs haven't utilized the partnership "as much as we probably should've."

Burns did say both #NERevs and Sporting CP are eager to utilize the partnership, just need to make something happen.

So Revs fans might be frustrated by the lack of action from the front office, but the powers at be are not sitting by the wayside. All options are being considered, and, based on Burns' comments, it wouldn't be all that surprising to see a signing materialize soon.
