Chris Tierney Named to MLS All-Star Team

The Revolution defender is part of the full gameday roster for MLS's midsummer showcase against Tottenham.

Chris Tierney has been a part of Major League Soccer since 2008, and for the first time in his career he will be an All-Star. Pablo Mastroeni, who is managing the All-Star squad against Tottenham Hotspur, named the veteran left-back to his 22-player team.

Tierney joins seven other defenders on the team and will likely vie for minutes with Damarcus Beasley of the Houston Dynamo, who is the only other natural left-back on the roster.

Ahead of this weekend's game against New York City FC, Tierney has scored one goal and added two assists in 19 total appearances. Aside from being a steady presence along the New England Revolution back-line, Tierney has been his usual self in the attacking third, whipping in crosses with his cultured left foot.

No other Revolution players have been named All-Stars this year, but you can catch Tierney and others at 9 PM on July 29 on Fox Sports 1 or in person at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
