It didn't take long for London Woodberry to start turning heads as the defender has been named to MLSSoccer.com's Team of the Week (wk. 9),
On Saturday, Woodberry played in his third game since returning to MLS, helping the New England Revolution to a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls. Woodberry was solid over the course of 90 minutes, offering seven tackles, four clearances, and two interceptions. The moment that drew the most attention, however, came in the 9th minute when Woodberry sent in a cross that was headed home by Charlie Davies.
Originally signed by FC Dallas as a Homegrown player in 2013, Woodberry spent 2014 with Arizona United SC of USL after being released. His exceptional stint in the lower division earned him a trial with the Revs, eventually leading to a contract offer.
Although initially viewed as depth, Woodberry was given an opportunity to start at right back while the Revs coped with a host of injuries. He has since retained the spot, beating out veterans Kevin Alston and Jeremy Hall.
Scott Caldwell also earned recognition for his performance against the Red Bulls as he grabbed a seat on the bench.
