The Boston Breakers have called up defender Sam Lofton and midfielder Chanel Johnson for Saturday's game against FC Kansas City.
Lofton and Johnson will bring the roster back to full strength while Brazilian internationals Bia and Rafinha are in camp with their national team.
Both amateur players practiced with the Breakers in preseason. The Breakers took Lofton in the third round of the college draft and Johnson is a Breakers reservist. Both played in all four of the team's preseason games.
Johnson may serve as a sub off the bench and come in for Schoepfer in order to partner with Barczuk, as she did during preseason. The back line has no reported injuries so far, so Lofton may also serve as a sub, but with Lauren Lazo out this weekend for her college graduation, odds are good that Lofton will see time on the pitch. Both players had their moments during preseason and Lofton did well enough that it wasn't immediately apparent who Durkin would sign among his draftees.
The Breakers play FC Kansas City on May 30 at 7 PM at Soldiers Field Stadium.
