The Breakers have called up goalkeeper Che' Brown to the roster for their game against Portland this weekend. Brown is an amateur callup and will serve as Jami Kranich's backup. Previous callup Paige Burnett continues to train with the Breakers Reserve.
Brown comes from Radford University where she posted 33 career shutouts, 49 wins, a 0.69 GAA, and finished her senior year with a 14-3-2 record. Brown was a trialist with the Washington Spirit during preseason this year and previously played for the Houston Aces in WPSL.
NWSL roster rules allow teams to call up amateurs to replace team players on national duty from a list of up to 10 amateurs. Amateur players are not compensated except for game day expenses.
As a side note, Brown might have the best twitter handle the Breakers have ever seen, @tou_che99. Your move, all other Boston Breakers on twitter.
The Breakers begin a three-game homestand at Soldier's Field on Saturday when they kickoff against the Portland Thorns at 4:00 PM.
