It’s game day for the US Men’s National Team and although the roster is compromised largely of players from MLS and Liga MX, it’s still a match against fierce rival Mexico.
Wednesday’s game welcomes back World Cup veterans Matt Besler, Omar Gonzalez, and Michael Bradley as the team prepares for this summer’s Gold Cup. The more intriguing names, however, include fringe players like college forward Jordan Morris, NASL’s Miguel Ibarra, and the in-limbo Julian Green. These players, and others, have a chance to stake their claim for being USMNT regulars.
For New England Revolution fans, all eyes will be on Lee Nguyen and Juan Agudelo. Despite frequently being called up, Nguyen has only been used as a substitute since his re-debut. Will Nguyen be given a more prominent role this Wednesday? Agudelo will also be looking to make an impact after a long stint away from the national team. The striker has already entered USMNT folklore by scoring in his debut at 17 years old. Could a meeting against Mexico provide another memorable moment?
