Revolution vs. Sounders 2015: Injury Reports

Both the New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders will be missing at least one important piece when the face off on Sunday night.

Sunday's match between the New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders has been called a preview of the MLS Cup Final. Even if this bold prediction turns out to be true, remember that today's fixture is an early season affair and both teams will be missing at least one crucial piece.

The official injury report for the Revolution lists both Jermaine Jones (left sports hernia surgery) and Donnie Smith (left groin surgery) as out. Meanwhile Lee Nguyen, who did travel with the team, is listed as questionable with right groin irritation.

Despite training with the team recently, Nguyen was coy about his status for Sunday. It's likely that Daigo Kobayashi will start in the midfield with Nguyen possibly making a late-game appearance. Nguyen missed last year's season opener against the Houston Dynamo because of a right groin strain. That game ultimately ended 4-0 in favor of Houston.

The Sounder's official injury report only includes one name, but it's a big one as Osvaldo Alonso is set to miss the match after undergoing groin surgery.
