Boston Breakers sign goalkeeper Libby Stout

Stout will replace Alyssa Naeher, who was traded to Chicago

The Boston Breakers have signed American goalkeeper Libby Stout, who comes to Boston from Liverpool in the FA WSL.

Stout is another player familiar with new head coach Matt Beard. "I'm delighted to be bringing Libby to Boston," Beard said. "She is a very good goalkeeper, and she has the potential to be one of the best in the league. I'm looking forward to continuing working with Libby."

Stout has plenty of experience as a starter in the WSL with 40 caps at Liverpool and will hopefully be quick to adjust to NWSL under a familiar coach.

Stout is part of the Breakers' offseason moves to strengthen the team on the field by leveraging Alyssa Naeher for Whitney Engen and draft picks. Combined with their additions in the midfield, it seems as though the Breakers are finally taking serious steps towards making the team competitive again. Was the cost worth it? Fans will find out next May.
