The calendar only recently switched to 2015 and the New England Revolution are already being considered favorites to win the MLS Cup.
The Seattle Times released their "15 soccer predictions for 2015" on Thursday. The article, which was penned by Matt Pentz, prognosticates that the Revs will win both the MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield.
The Revolution are the perfect "outsider's pick" as the team will return most of their starters from last year’s MLS Cup Final but aren’t as obvious of a choice as the LA Galaxy or Seattle Sounders. The team’s young core will have another year of experience while Designated Player Jermaine Jones will play his first full season in MLS. Last year, Sports Illustrated writer Grant Wahl predicted that the Revolution would go all the way.
The Seattle Times also forecasted individual accolades for the Revs with Lee Nguyen being named MVP and Jay Heaps grabbing Coach of the Year.
