Contrary to reports from yesterday, it seems that A.J. Soares' rumored move to Seria A side Hellas Verona may in fact still be on. MLS inside-man Ives Galarcep, writer for Goal.com and his own blog Soccer By Ives, tweeted early this afternoon that Soares may still be Italy-bound:
Regarding A.J. Soares looming move to Hellas Verona, I’m told it’s still very much on, contrary to reports suggesting it fell apart. #NERevs

This report comes on the heels of yesterday's tweets from Revs beat writer Julian Cardillo reporting that Soares was in fact returning to New England in 2015 and that the move to Hellas Verona had perhaps fallen through or possibly that the Italian side had never made an approach at all.
Report: Soares not joining Verona. Will return to #NERevs in 2015. Name even taken off Verona's Wiki page. #MLS

Report on Soares out of Italy. Contact says club hasn't even made an approach, which I personally find hard to believe. #limbo #NERevs

If Ives' report today is true, it could certainly cause the Revolution brass to lean towards drafting a central defender with their 33rd overall draft pick. If Soares were to be staying, I'd think that choosing a forward with their lone draft pick today may be more prudent. In all likelihood the Revolution will draft the player that they feel is the best available to them once their turn comes around, but I'd put a fiver on them drafting a player to address one of those two areas.
