In Round 1F, Nguyen's strike from distance never stood a chance, falling in convincing fashion to his curling finish against Houston.

After darting into the middle of the park, Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell played Nguyen just outside the box. The Revs' playmaker took a touch and "scooped" his shot past a sprawling Evan Bush, emphatically equalizing the match in the 69th minute.

In the waning moments of his club's eventual 3-1 victory, Nguyen stormed forward and caused a costly turnover. Forward Patrick Mullins, who immediately gained possession, played a bounding ball back to Nguyen, who smoked a perfectly-timed ball into the back of the net.
