After scoring six goals in four matches—and collecting a hat trick during a quarterfinal thumping of Cuba—Clint Dempsey and the U.S. Men's National Team face Jamaica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Semifinal.
Through four matches, the Jamaicans have looked increasingly dangerous, using wins over Canada and El Salvador to run away with Group B. During Saturday's quarterfinal match against Haiti, Giles Barnes scored the game's only goal, giving Jamaica a 1-0 victory—the nation's third in a row.
Featuring a series of experimental lineups, the United States looked somewhat uncomfortable in a shaky group stage. But in the end, wins over Honduras and Haiti powered the U.S. through Group A, drawing a quarterfinal match up with Cuba. Dempsey & Co. took care of business, earning a 6-0 victory.
Tonight, Klinsmann will have key decisions to make along the back line. Will he stick with Omar Gonzalez—who played well against an inferior Cuba side—or re-introduce John Brooks? Will DeMarcus Beasley, a knockout-stage call up, make his debut?
Tune in this evening as the Yanks push for a spot in the Gold Cup final.
