The New England Revolution are playing a rare Sunday night game against the Chicago Fire in Foxboro this evening. The night figures to be an interesting one, with good weather and good soccer offset by the first Sunday of the NFL regular season.
New England is also hosting this match as a Childhood Cancer Awareness match, fundraising in partnership with MLS Works and the Pan-Mass Challenge. Players, coaches, announcers, and staff will be decked out in several different gold ribbon-adorned items, and a raffle will be held, among other things.
Tonight's lineup shows the evidence of squad rotation as Jay Heaps tries to account for the workload of three games in eight days. Jermaine Jones starts again, but this time Scott Caldwell is in there as well, which should allow one or the other of the two considerably more freedom in midfield. Diego Fagundez is back in the starting lineup, as well as Patrick Mullins.
