Three days after guiding her club to a dominant 3-2 victory, Breakers midfielder Lianne Sanderson earned NWSL Player of the Week honors.

The 26-year-old attacker struck twice on Sunday--once in the 43rd minute on a difficult volley and again in the 61st minute, the eventual game winner--and added an assist on Julie King's 15th minute goal. The recognition builds on Sanderson's Player of the Week award following week 7 of the 2013 season, making the Lewisham, England native just the fourth player to earn dual honors. Midfielder Heather O'Reilly and forward Sydney Leroux also won the award in 2013.

Now with 15 career WPS and NWSL goals, Sanderson will look to carry the Breakers out of an early 1-2 hole. The team struggled through the first two weeks of 2014, conceding six goals en route to a winless debut. A 3-2 victory over Houston bodes well for continued improvement, as the team will have the opportunity to draw even in week four.

The Breakers will return to action Sunday, May 3, at 7 p.m. ET against Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J.
