It must be opening day. The sun is shining, the weather has cleared, the mercury is up, and there's an air of optimism about life this fine Saturday afternoon. The New England Revolution will kick off their 2014 campaign against the Houston Dynamo tonight at 8:30 PM, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that it couldn't have come sooner.
A successful 2013 campaign has bred high expectations for 2014 but that doesn't leave this squad without its question marks and potential issues. There's an injury report to consider, of course, and that report certainly raises some serious questions. No one wants to go to BBVA Compass Stadium and trot out anything less than a full-strength lineup. Unfortunately, that's how it's going to look for the Revs.
The full report is as follows:
OUT
Andrew Farrell - L Tibial Stress Reaction
Lee Nguyen - R Groin Strain
QUESTIONABLE
Andy Dorman - Concussion
Jose Goncalves - R Quad Strain
Saer Sene - L Ankle Surgery
Chris Tierney - L Hamstring Strain
We polled the Revolution Twitterverse to see what lineup they wanted to see in Houston tonight. Here's my hope (not best guess, best hope, assuming everyone Questionable except Sene is available to start), followed by all of yours.
Steve: Brad Knighton; Tierney, Goncalves, A.J. Soares, O'Brian Woodbine; Scott Caldwell; Diego Fagundez, Kelyn Rowe, Daigo Kobayashi, Patrick Mullins; Teal Bunbury
