The MLS season might be over, but Fagundez isn't done playing soccer. The teenager contributed a goal and two assists for the Uruguay U-20 team against club team Colonia on Sunday.

Diego Fagundez is making the most of the final days of 2014 as the New England Revolution midfielder had a goal and two assists for the Uruguay U-20 team in a friendly against Colonia (Uruguay) on Sunday.

Fagundez’s tally was the second in a game that ultimately ended 3-0. The teenager, who also played provider to Facundo Bone and Horacio Sequeira, took to Twitter after the game to express his excitement.

With the game tied 0-0 at halftime, head coach Fabian Coito made wholesale changes, which included the introduction of Fagundez. Both halves were extended to 50 minutes.

Fagundez and the Uruguay U-20s will return to action on Tuesday when they face Lavalleja (Uruguay). On Friday, Coito is expected to name his final 23-man roster for the South American Youth Championship. There are currently 27 players in camp.

It's good to see Fagundez back on the score sheet as the Massachusetts native struggled towards the end of the MLS season. After a breakout year in 2013 that saw him collect 13 goals and seven assists, Fagundez only amassed five goals and four assists in 2014. Relegated to the bench as the year progressed, Fagundez didn't make a postseason appearance.
