New England Revolution fans are not in a very good place this week. They lost in the MLS Cup final to the Los Angeles Galaxy in extra time last Sunday, traded away two strikers to the Colorado Rapids to protect more domestic players for the Expansion Draft, and then New York City FC selected Patrick Mullins and Tony Taylor in that draft.
So putting out tweets like this from Lee Nguyen are not helpful:
Oh. Tell me more RT @LeeNguyen24 That feeling you get when you've made a big decision and realize there's no turning back
— Seth Vertelney (@svertgoalcom) December 12, 2014
The original tweet has since been deleted, but that didn't stop fans from losing their minds for a little while...
"@LeeNguyen24: That feeling you get when you've made a big decision and realize there's no turning back" Likely heading to EPL

Maybe @RevsPrez told @LeeNguyen24 hey don't worry we're trading for Robbie Keane! #NERevs #THEEEEEEHYPE

I bet @LeeNguyen24 just became an organ donor. #NERevs

@LeeNguyen24 This is about getting a major haircut right? Right?
— Gail (@GailsGoneMild) December 12, 2014
But fear not Revs fans, Gail is actually correct and Lee was just doing a bit of trolling...or just put out an innocent tweet that clearly was just wildly over-interpreted. Because we'd never wildly speculate about Lee getting a haircut as him transferring overseas right?
Does this count.. pic.twitter.com/bGBdagVpWf

So remember fans, just because it's the silly season does not always mean the sky is falling. Lee, please tweet responsibly to avoid any more Revs fans potentially spending the entire night rocking back and forth silently in a corner weeping uncontrollably.
I had Lee signing a DP contract in the online pool to represent the positive end of the spectrum as far as Lee's future goes, but well played sir.
