What started as a simple Twitter message turned into reality as Darrius Barnes boarded buses full of supporters after the New England Revolution’s 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday afternoon.
The idea was originally proposed on Twitter soon after the Revolution front office announced that they would offer free transportation to supporters. Hoping to provide fans with a little extra incentive to travel to Red Bull Arena, Barnes sent the following tweet:
@MidnightRiders @Hisco5 @NErebellion sell out and I'll come thank each bus personally!

The tweet was followed by some to tongue-and-cheek talk with supporters. Hank Alexandre of The Midnight Ride Podcast even proposed that Barnes should ride back on one of the buses.
Although Barnes politely declined the invitation, he would keep his word by hopping on buses after the game to show his gratitude by shaking hands with supporters. The defender even participated in a "we want the cup" chant.

Unfortunately Barnes wasn’t able to visit each of the 20 buses, but he did use Twitter to continue to spread his gratefulness:
@RevsandBlues Ahh I wish I could have made it to every bus. I tried! Cheers from the boys tho! pic.twitter.com/hNopC0BQVB
