Revolution Get 5th Pick in MLS Dispersal Draft

The drafting order for the MLS Dispersal Draft that will disseminate Chivas USA's contracted roster has been set, and the Revolution will be picking 5th on November 19th.

The 2014-2015 offseason will likely go down in MLS history as the "Winter of Drafts," featuring no less than five of the acquisition mechanisms, and so far the New England Revolution can prepare adequately for at least one of them.

Major League Soccer released the priority order for the Dispersal Draft, which will take place on November 19th at 4 PM ET. The Revs will have the fifth pick as the league works to cannibalize the Chivas USA roster ahead of the team's "reorganization" and hiatus.

To determine the draft order, the league assigned each team envelopes; playoff teams received one, while non-playoff clubs were given two. Despite that, four of the top five teams in the draft are currently in the playoffs.

Any clubs that acquire a Dispersal Draft player must take that player at their full 2015 value and pick up that season's option. They may, however, leave those players unprotected in the Expansion Draft.

It's going to be difficult to predict who the Revs might go after just as much as it's difficult to predict who will be left at that particular place in the draft. The clear favorites from Chivas' roster are Erick Torres and Dan Kennedy; the problem is that the former is not actually going to be a part of the draft, and the latter will almost certainly not last until number five.

Honestly, it's almost useless to speculate. For a really good look at what might be available, check out The Goat Parade's excellent Dispersal Draft Guide. Going off of that data, New England might try and take a flyer on someone like a Thomas McNamara, Caleb Calvert, Ryan Finley, or Kristopher Tyrpak.
