Dynamo Midfielder Luis Garrido Issued Suspension, Fine for Foul on Lee Nguyen

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued a suspension and fine to Luis Garrido for a foul on Nguyen that took place on Oct. 16.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued a one-game suspension to Houston Dynamo midfielder Luis Garrido for the elbow he delivered to Lee Nguyen in the 25th minute of last Thursday’s game. Not only will Garrido miss the Dynamo’s season finale against the Chicago Fire, but he will also be forced to pay a fine for an undisclosed amount.

The elbow, which connected with Nguyen’s neck, was whistled by the referee, but it didn’t garner a card. Upon review, the Disciplinary Committee ruled that Garrido had endangered the safety of his opponent. It should be noted that the physical holding midfielder did receive a yellow card in the 52nd minute for different foul on Nguyen.
