Revolution 2-1 United: Player Ratings and Man of the Match

The Revolution put down D.C. United on Saturday night. Corey and Matty submitted player ratings to gauge the team's performance in what truly was a tale of two halves.

Paul Frederiksen-USA TODAY Sport

Bobby Shuttleworth: Average Rating - 5.5 (Corey 6, Matty 5)

Corey: Looked shaky at times but got the job done in the end. Revs are struggling the clear the ball out of the penalty area, though, and part of that falls on him...Matty: Am I the only one that though the Silva goal should have been saved?

Chris Tierney: Average Rating - 6.25 (Corey 6.5, Matty 6)

Corey: Made some impressive blocks on defense and was generally active on both sides of the ball. His service on Imbongo's goal was superb, and it's nice to see Tierney finding his rhythm again this season...Matty: Solid as a rock. Great service on the goal, and becoming a better defender as well. Smart player.

Jose Goncalves: Average Rating - 6 (Corey 6, Matty 6)

Corey: A steady match, but made some dangerous and questionable decisions here and there. Might have been a little lucky not to surrender a PK...Matty: Seemed a little off mentally. Places where he's usually so solid he looked a little unsettled, and I certainly thought it was a good shout for a PK.

Stephen McCarthy: Average Rating - 5.75 (Corey 5.5, Matty 6)

Corey: It seems fairly obvious why Heaps has opted to stick with him over Soares. His aerial presence is practically unmatched. It wasn't all good though...Matty: Strong in the air, and a good complement to JoGo. Glad to see there were no lingering effects of the head injury.

Andrew Farrell: Average Rating - 6.75 (Corey 7, Matty 6.5)

Corey: Passing, service, and defensive work-rate were all outstanding. A great game for the rookie...Matty: Rookie did it all on the night. Smart runs, strong defensively, good service too.

Clyde Simms: Average Rating - 5.75 (Corey 6, Matty 5.5)

Corey: Good pace and vision all game. Looking forward to him getting back to full fitness...Matty: Typical solid effort from the veteran. Still think he plays too many negative balls at times, but better safe than sorry.

Saer Sene: Average Rating - 7.25 (Corey 7.5, Matty 7)

Corey: Sene was an offensive catalyst all game, which is just what the Revs need out of him. This might have been his best game of the season so far...Matty: Dangerous. If there were only one word recaps that would be it.

Lee Nguyen: Average Rating - 6.25 (Corey 6, Matty 6.5)

Corey: Nguyen showed up for this one, which is always a good thing. It feels like he is finding a groove lately...Matty: Better involvement, stronger presence. We all know this team is better when Lee is a major part of the recipe.

Kelyn Rowe: Average Rating - 6.5 (Corey 7, Matty 6)

Corey: Was an excellent 2-way player on the night, and almost bagged a goal for himself. More plaudits to add to his great season...Matty: A very strong appearance for the sophomore. Loved his commitment at both ends of the field.

Diego Fagundez: Average Rating - 6.25 (Corey 6, Matty 6.5)

Corey: Obviously frustrated with his lack of involvement for the first 60 minutes or so. Found a way to insert himself, though, in the best way possible...Matty: Smart vision and anticipation on the goal. Hopefully, this sparks him to a better run of form in the future.

Dimitry Imbongo: Average Rating - 6.75 (Corey 7, Matty 6.5)

Corey: Did just about everything right and has successfully shored up his place at the top of the depth chart...Matty: Incredibly strong, and knows how to get himself into the right types of scoring positions.

Scott Caldwell (sub): Average Rating - 6.5 (Corey 6.5, Matty 6.5)

Corey: Gave the Revs some new life in the second half, which surely was exactly the game plan...Matty: He just brings a different feel to the team on the field. Better vision, and more of a passing threat, he helped open up the field for the Revs.

Chad Barrett (sub): Average Rating - 5.25 (Corey 5.5, Matty 5)

Corey: Nothing remarkable but he looks good every time he steps on the field lately...Matty: Much ado about nothing as far as major contributions, but I love all the little things he does. He also has one of the best motors on the team.

Kevin Alston (sub): Average Rating - 11 (Corey 12*, Matty 10)

Corey*: Overridden by management (Steve). Welcome back, KA...Matty: Of course.
