The New England Revolution and Columbus Crew have played out to a goalless first half at Crew Stadium.
There weren't many highlights to speak of, although Chris Tierney missed a wide open net in the 23rd minute after Dimitry Imbongo sent in a cross through the Crew penalty area. The pass took a deflection but Tierney was unable to turn the ball into the net, flashing his redirected effort wide.
Andrew Farrell and AJ Soares picked up yellow cards on sliding challenges within about 5 seconds of each other in the 31st minute. Jose Goncalves was lucky not to pick up a card in the in the 35th minute after he pushed Aaron Schoenfeld in the back and into the advertising behind the Crew goal. Schoenfeld immediately signaled to the bench for a substitution as he clutched his shoulder. Ben Speas replaced him.
The Crew have been very active in the Revs end, firing a total of 10 shots in the first half. However, none of those shots ever made it to Bobby Shuttleworth as the Revs blocked seven shots in the first half.
Somehow there have only been 11 total fouls in this game, 6 for the Crew, 5 for the Revs in a match that got increasingly heated towards the end of the first half.
