The Boston Breakers have announced the signing of 23-year old American defender Jazmyne Avant. Avant last played for Portland Thorns FC but was waived by the NWSL side on June 20.
Avant has made four appearances this season, including two starts with Portland playing primarily at left back.
"I think Jazmyne has been great this year in Portland. And based on our needs, she fills an important spot for us," Breakers Head Coach Lisa Cole said. "I like her attitude. I like her tenacity. She's someone who is really going to help us."
Per league and team policy the details of the contract were not disclosed. Avant will be available for selection this Sunday when the Breakers host Sky Blue FC at home at 6:30pm.
A Dallas, TX native and former University of Florida standout, with 12 assists in 97 career games as a Gator, Avant also played with WPSL Elite side New York Fury in 2012.
