The injury reports haven't been kind to New England Revolution head coach Jay Heaps in recent weeks, but it appears that, for tonight at least, he's had enough available to him to put together a near-full strength squad. His back line, in particular, looks stronger than the one that took the field against Portland last week.
Despite "questionable" listings for both players, Andrew Farrell and Stephen McCarthy will reprise their roles in defense. The former missed out on the match against the Timbers due to a knee contusion suffered against Philadelphia, while the latter overcame an adductor strain that seemed to have cropped up between Thursday and today.
The only other significant change made was at the holding midfield position. Kalifa Cisse, who started last week and was unlisted on the injury report this week, is not even in the match day 18. Scott Caldwell is starting in the deep-lying role in his stead. Caldwell will bring a bit more attacking crispness and energy to the center of the pitch, but against a team that can mix it up like RSL, you have to wonder if Cisse's physicality and leadership will be missed.
